As I have a few actual minutes to myself this afternoon I started reflecting on election day and what a big deal it really is. So many people take it for granted or don't vote at all but are the first to complain about elected officials. There are so many people that have fought...not just in wars...for us as Americans to vote. So I ask myself why don't people get out and do it? I was so excited that Mark was able to participate in a mock election at school. He was very excited to go and when I picked him up he walked proudly out with an American flag in his hand....and I must admit it made me a little teary eyed. The sight of my little guy totally getting that today is a big deal and in some way he was participating. This morning as I left the house at 6am to run out and vote he asked "mama where are you going?" I'm proud to be able to tell him that Daddy and I made it a priority that we both get to the polls today because this important. I'm proud to show my daughter that she as a woman has a voice and that it matters what she thinks. I hope all three of my kiddos grow up to realize the importance of this day and of all of the people in the past who struggled and fought for all of us...men, women, minorities....to have a voice. Go vote :)
